In February 2023, the Plei App officially expanded into our 14th region: Detroit, Michigan. 🚗 The first facility that we partnered with was Livonia Athletic District, located west of Downtown Detroit. Now, we are excited to announce a new partnership, this time with UWM Sports Complex! 🤝

As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

Originally known as Ultimate Soccer Arenas when it first opened way back in 2008, this huge Pontiac facility has expanded in recent years to transform into a full-fledged sports complex. 📈

It only made sense that they changed their name accordingly. Following a 2020 acquisition by United Wholesale Mortgage, the venue was subsequently renamed to UWM Sports Complex. 🆕

Not long after, the new tenants immediately got to work renovating the property to include spaces for more than just soccer. What was previously an already huge 267,000 square-foot facility for over 13 years has now evolved into a colossal 378,400 square feet. 😳

Make no mistake, though; UWM Sports Complex is still a dime of a facility for the beautiful game in Greater Detroit. 💎

In total, you’ll find three (3) synthetic fields at this facility, each equipped with state-of-the-art AstroTurf. Two (2) of these fields are designated as “Olympic-sized”, measuring 110 yards by 75 yards and equipped for full-size 11v11 encounters. 🙌

One is located indoors (Field 1) and the other is outside (Field 3). 📍

Meanwhile, Field 2 is a slightly smaller pitch, measuring 85 yards by 47 yards. As a result, expect to play 9v9 pickup games on this turf. 👌

If you visited UWM Sports Complex under their former name at any point between 2008 and 2020, then you know that these fields have always been here. What’s new are the facilities that were added afterwards thus transforming the complex into a sporting hotspot for Pontiac and Greater Detroit athletes. 🔥

Renovations were complete within a year following the UWM acquisition, and as of October 2021, the facility now accommodates a multitude of sports thanks to the addition of a fieldhouse building. 🏗️

• Eight (8) full basketball courts 🏀
• Sixteen (16) volleyball courts 🏐
• An indoor track 🏃‍♂️
• A conference room 🪑

To further expand their reach, UWM also offers accommodation for other sports like lacrosse, pickleball, futsal, American football and more. 🥍🏈

UWM Sports Complex is the result of a partnership with ReImagine Recreation in order to identify the needs of the local community. 🤝

“The goal is to ensure those who may be facing cost and transportation barriers are able to access the facility. By collaborating with local community groups, the complex is able to host a variety of sports leagues and programs, to local youth in Pontiac, Oakland County and beyond, with transportation included and costs covered for those who need it.

Our mission is to provide a safe, youth-focused, sports driven environment here at the United Wholesale Mortgage Sports Complex. Given the diversity of athletic space we have to offer, we partner with a variety of organizations who provide athletic and otherwise enriching programming which allows young people to learn, grow and prosper. We are focused on providing the youth of our local community a space that meets their developmental and recreational needs. It takes a village to make an impact on a generation of youth and we aim to play an active part in what it takes to create growth, access and opportunity for young people through recreation.”
