In an effort to extend our presence in the Tri-State Area in April 2024, the Plei App officially debuted in our 24th region, New Jersey! ☀️ We began offering pickup games in the Garden State by first partnering with a pair of veteran facilities: All Nations Recreation Center and the New Jersey Stallions Academy. This time, we’ve joined forces with another local facility known as SportsPlex at Metuchen. 🤝
As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬
Rest assured that SportsPlex at Metuchen certainly doesn’t deceive anyone, either. You have further proof in the fact that their venue’s total size comes close to a whopping 90,000 square feet. 🙌
Located in the suburban borough of Metuchen in Middlesex County, SportsPlex is best known for their state-of-the-art turf surfaces that are primarily set aside for the purposes of none other than the beautiful game. ❤️🔥
So, let’s start there, shall we? 😁
On the west side of the facility, you’ll find a pretty large turf grass fieldhouse, measuring 203 feet by 163 feet. More often than not, you’ll notice that it is divided into two (2) soccer separate fields by a red curtain, with each one sized perfectly for 7v7. 👍
Lacrosse and field hockey are also quite common on these fields. 🥍🏑
With professional lighting fixtures, AC circulating throughout and some of the best synthetic grass in the market installed, these fields set up the perfect setting for the most exciting pickup action that you won’t find anywhere else in Metuchen. ⚡
Head over to the far southeast corner of the venue and you’ll notice that there’s a whole other way to enjoy pickup footy at SportsPlex. Check out this boarded mini-field, suitable for 4v4 and 5v5 games where the ball won’t go out of bounds. 👇
If you prefer nonstop, close-quarters action, then this is your field. 👌
Open throughout the year except during winter is an outdoor field, which is located on the west side of the building. ☀️
Beyond soccer, the facility also has a hard court space that has been divided into three (3) separate regulation-size courts for the purposes of basketball & volleyball. Thanks to their blue paint finishes and multi-color accents, they certainly catch the eye as well. 🔵
Combine all three of these courts and suddenly you have a sports rink that can then be used for roller skating, hockey and much more. 🛼🏒
Of course, sports is the common theme all around SportsPlex at Metuchen, but what’s the point of sports if not to make friends, socialize and just have a good time overall? 🤷
The facility made sure to not neglect that aspect of what it means to be an athlete. A set of party rooms (each seating about 25) create the ideal setting for all kinds of events. You can also look forward to a full-fledged concessions area with plenty of food and drink options as well as even more seating. 🪑
Once you’re all done playing pickup, this is sure to be your preferred destination to unwind and relax. Be sure to take advantage of it. 🙂
