In April 2023, the Plei App officially expanded into our 15th region, New York City! 🍏 After months and months of hard work and effort from all of us at Plei, one of our dream destinations for the app finally came true. The next facility that we have partnered with in the Big Apple is Globall Sports Centers - Brooklyn. 📍
As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬
One of their remarkable facilities, nestled within the Major R. Owens Health & Wellness Center in Brooklyn, is a haven for soccer enthusiasts seeking a modern and dynamic indoor playing experience. 🌟
Step inside and be greeted by state-of-the-art indoor fields designed specifically for soccer. GSC Brooklyn offers both 9v9 and 6v6 fields in a single large turf area, providing plenty of versatility and optimal playing surfaces for action-packed pickup matches. 🔥
Rain or shine, these indoor fields offer a controlled environment, allowing uninterrupted gameplay and ensuring constant high level gameplay. Not to mention the open space and abundant natural light, which is all intentional in the facility’s design to mimic an outdoor experience without actually being outside. 💡
After your game, refuel and relax at the convenient food concession area within the facility. Here you can choose from a large assortment of snacks and drinks, so you can easily recharge before heading out - or hitting the field again for another round. 🥊
Parking is a breeze at GSC Brooklyn, as they offer discounted rates in the nearby garage. Located conveniently next to the facility, it's just another way that the venue aims to make your experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible. 🅿️🚗
If you’re on foot, you don’t have much to worry about either. The facility is just a 5-minute walk from the subway station. 🚇
There are also Citibike terminals on-site, as well! 🚲
GSC proudly claims the title of Central Brooklyn's newest and NYC's largest indoor turf field - there’s no question that the latter is true. The building they are located at was previously the Bedford Armory, historically used by the National Guard, and now repurposed to provide high-quality athletics for the local community. 🙌
In its entirety, the large turf area measures an impressive 60 x 40 yards. With a soaring ceiling height of 90 feet, players can unleash their talents without any obstructions, reaching new heights and pushing their limits. 🔝
For young athletes looking to develop their skills, youth sports camps and classes are available at GSC Brooklyn. Those who enroll in these programs will be under the guidance of expert coaches who work hard to help players hone their abilities, learn valuable lessons, and foster a lifelong love for sports. 💖
We mentioned that the turf area can be reconfigured to offer either 9v9 or 6v6 field sizes. What we didn’t bring up yet is that the entire space, extending past the grass and through the adjacent basketball courts, can be used for all kinds of large to extra large gatherings. 👌
In the past, special events like graduation ceremonies and boxing matches have been held here, if that gives you even the slightest idea of what can be done at GSC Brooklyn. 😅
