As our 19th market and third new region of the year, the Plei App officially expanded to Phoenix, Arizona in February 2024. 🏜️ The next facility that we have partnered with in the Valley of the Sun is Cactus Yards, an expansive outdoor baseball park and sports complex located southeast of Phoenix. 📍
As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬
Located in Gilbert, Arizona, Cactus Yards distinguishes itself as more than just a place to play sports. Take it from us and the many athletes that have arrived to play here over the years when we say that just being here makes you feel like a kid again. 👶
This sort of emotion mostly stems from the way that Cactus Yards is built. The facility - which opened back in 2008 - features a total of eight (8) baseball fields, which each one designed as scaled-down replicas of some of the nation’s most iconic ballparks. 🏟️
Boston’s Fenway Park, Chicago’s Wrigley Field and New York’s Yankee Stadium are just three of the replica ballparks that you’ll find here. 👌
All eight fields are designed to accommodate youth baseball & fast-pitch softball, adult slow-pitch softball and other field sports like kickball. On top of that, stadium-style seating has been installed on every field, providing approximately 200 seats for spectators. 🪑
Think of Cactus Yards as an EPCOT, but instead of each area of the World Showcase neighborhood of the theme park representing a country, it represents a famous baseball stadium. 🌟
EPCOT’s largest neighborhood is the World Showcase, but it isn’t the only attraction that the Disney park offers. Neither are the baseball fields at Cactus Yards despite being the main event. 👀
That’s where the beautiful game comes into play. We’re not entirely sure whose decision it was to install a turf soccer field right smack in the middle of the facility, but we’re certainly not complaining. 😅
Located within a 20,000 air-cooled square foot fieldhouse is a state-of-the-art artificial turf pitch, spacious enough to host pickup games as large as 9v9 or 8v8. ⚽
The outdoor baseball fields see plenty of use in the form of leagues & camps, and the fieldhouse has its own fair share of attractions as well. Activities range from soccer & lacrosse leagues and youth sports camps to recreational classes, birthday parties, and - of course - pickup footy via the Plei App. 📲
Amusement parks typically come with restaurants and numerous other dining options, don’t they? 🤔
Precisely so, and Cactus Yards continues this theme park trend by supplying not one, but two restaurants inside the complex! Sliders Sports Grill is the dining provider here, offering two separate locations on the north and south sides of the park. 📍📍
Sliders Sports Grill features the same savory cuisine that you’d find at most American sports diners, offering a versatile menu of burgers, nachos, salads and more. 😋
Don’t sleep on their bar lineup either, which includes a long list of draft beers as well as canned & bottled options. 🍻

Thankfully, the one characteristic that Cactus Yards does not share with most theme/amusement parks is the peace of mind when it comes to parking. You’ll find over 500 parking spaces in their main lot, as well as an overflow area with another 200 extra spaces. 🅿️
