Thereâs nothing quite like soccer in the Big Apple. Thatâs why weâve partnered with multiple pickup leagues across New York City to bring you all more field options! These leagues host their matches year-round on dozens of unique pitches across NYC, and as part of this partnership, we are bringing Plei App games to their spaces in order to fill in on days that the leagues arenât running.
That being said, these blogs will answer all the questions that you usually ask before you head out to play some ball, likeâŚ
Is it a 6v6, 7v7, 8v8 or 9v9 field? Artificial grass or natural? What are the exact measurements? Where should I park? What subway train do I take and where do I get off? Are there good food/drink options nearby? Are there any other cool things to do or see in the surrounding area?
Fear not: all these questions and more will be answered within each blog, so you can confidently suit up, head out and have fun playing some pickup footy, New York style. đ˝đ

At Bushwick Inlet Park, youâll find a large, multi-purpose turf field space, big enough to host full-size 11v11 fixtures.
Thatâs not all, though. For those that prefer slightly smaller sized games, the full field can be split into three (3) separate fields suitable for 8v8 games. For Plei App purposes, thatâs exactly what weâll be offering.
This beautiful Brooklyn park has been majestically positioned along the Greenpoint-Williamsburg Waterfront, which means stunning vistas of the water and, even further down, the Manhattan skyline. Man, these views just never get old, do they?
If youâre a certified NYC baller, then chances are youâve probably made your rounds around some of the cityâs most well-known soccer pitches on countless occasions. You arenât a stranger to this type of scenery, and youâve more than likely already played here, too.
If you havenât quite experienced the beautiful game in the Big Apple to its full capacity, then playing some 8v8 at Bushwick Inlet Park may be a great starting point.

For those driving to Bushwick Inlet Park via car, youâll want to look for street parking, specifically on Kent Avenue, North 9th Street or North 10th Street. Friendly reminder: we are totally not responsible for where you leave your vehicle.
There are two subway stations in close proximity to the park, so depending on which area of the city youâre coming from, be sure to get off at the right station.
The Bedford Ave station offers L service, which runs from Manhattan. Meanwhile, the Nassau Ave station is a G service, which runs from Long Island City all the way down to Kensington.
From both of these stations, itâs about a 5 minute walk to the park. So grab yourself a Citi bike or walk, it doesnât hurt to get some early cardio in before you hit the field.
Certain bus routes reach all the way to Bushwick Inlet Park. The closest stop is Kent Av/N 9 St, which you can get to by taking B32 service.
Youâll have no trouble knowing when youâve arrived at Bushwick Inlet Park thanks to a large building with a sign of the parkâs name installed on the left side.
Fortunately, this is exactly where youâll enter. Make your way into the park via the main entrance via N 9th Street. From here, simply follow the path until you see the field on your right hand side. There arenât any fences or gating blocking easy access, so just step right onto the pitch once you see the green.
There are two other parks on opposite ends of Bushwick Inlet Park in case you want to kill some time before or after your pickup game. Thankfully, both offer the same incredible views of the NY cityscape.
For starters, stop by Marsha P. Johnson State Park. This is a 7-acre riverside park named for a trans & LGBTQ rights activist, fully equipped with picnic areas, trails for walking/running and plenty of greenery. Youâll find this park immediately to the left of Bushwick Inlet.
Bordering North 11th Street is 50 Kent, which actually forms part of Bushwick Inlet Park. This park boasts quite the eye-catching design, featuring plenty of green infrastructure in the form of elevated lawn areas, forest groves and a vegetative slope. Thereâs also a water play area, a family gathering area and a number of curving pathways.
Refer to the photo above for a better understanding of 50 Kent.
A seasonal outdoor foodie market known as Smorgasburg tends to set up shop inside Marsha P. Johnson State Park, but itâs not always going to be there.
Because of this inconvenience, weâve provided three solid options in case you want to grab some takeout before you head home after a tough pickup game.
