👀 It’s been a statement week for us, but we’re still not done
Two days ago, we equalized our personal all-time record for region expansions in a single calendar year. We managed this feat by debuting in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, all but solidifying our takeover of the California pickup scene. 🌉
In our Sacramento expansion blog that we released on Monday, we foreshadowed what was to be a pretty busy week, and a historic month overall for the Plei App. With two new regions added to the app in just a span of two days, you would have thought that we were done for now. 💤
But did you really think we’d stop without actually breaking our record? 😅
Introducing the Plei App’s 23rd and newest region expansion: New Jersey! ☀️
That’s right; we’ve finally made it to the Garden State, hence beginning what is a broader takeover of not just the New York City pickup soccer scene, but the entirety of the Tri-State Area. 🗺️
New Jersey is special to us for a number of reasons, one of them being the lack of true recognition for what is undoubtedly a hub for all things sports. Shaquille O'Neal, Derek Jeter, Carli Lloyd, Carl Lewis, Joe Flacco, Dennis Rodman; we could go on for a while listing legendary athletes that have their roots in Jersey. 🌟
However, one of the biggest problems is the fact that, although there are a total of five professional teams that play their home games in the state, only one actually includes New Jersey in their name. The other four, as you might expect, prefer to rep New York, which tends to cause confusion in the sports world more than anything else. 😵
We won’t bash teams like the New York Red Bulls, the New York Giants, and the New York Jets for choosing to represent the Big Apple when in fact they don’t even play there, but it sure would be nice to see some more New Jersey representation on the big stage. ✨
The Plei App has arrived in full force to change that. We could’ve easily started offering our service to Jersey ballers a long time ago and simply continue calling it NYC fútbol like nothing ever happened, but that wouldn’t have been fair to the hundreds of thousands of aspiring soccer players that passionately and unapologetically call New Jersey - not New York - their one true home. 🏠

To ease our way into the New Jersey pickup soccer community, we will start by partnering with two veteran facilities in the state: All Nations Recreation Center and the New Jersey Stallions Academy! You can read more about them both in the next section. ⏭️
